Borno Hunters Offered To Help Nigerian Army To Fight Boko Haram

Monday, 3 December 2018

In the South West zone, hunters has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to involve them in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North East. The call was made by the National President of Soludero Hunters Association of Nigeria, Oba Nureni Ajijola Idris Anabi.

The hunters who smack with local charms said getting rid of the insurgents should not have been this difficult if they had been involved by the federal government. Oba Ajijola said the incessant attacks on innocent people and soldiers in the North should not be left for the army or security agents alone to do but should be a combination of the security agents and local hunters.

His statements  reference to the recent attack by the insurgents which recorded heavy casualties on the side of the military, Ajijola maintained that the dimension the attack was assuming was too dangerous.

While acknowledging the significant achievement the President Buhari led administration had made in pushing the insurgents far away, he said more achievements would be recorded if the hunters were empowered with vehicles and other logistics. He said,

“I want to tell you that we have charms that can demobilize armoured tanks and rifles of all kinds. Their weapons will just not work. When invited, we can also give the soldiers some protection that would not make them vulnerable to attacks.”

“President Buhari has done tremendously well in the fight against Book Haram. Except for those who don’t want to face facts, this administration has given hope to ordinary Nigerians. The insecurity issue has been tackled though much still needs to be done”.

“The president should just try us and see if we can help. But, I assure you that Nigerians including the army will see how much we can do. There are still charms that can render weapons of war of the insurgents useless and we will be catching them(Book Haram) like chickens.”

“We sympathise with the soldiers on the unnecessary attacks. The way we can contribute our quota is not only by sympathising with them. That’s why we are calling on the president to include us(south west hunters) in the fight against the insurgents”, be noted.

A Nigerian, Mohammed Isa has started to trek from Lagos to Abuja protesting against President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Isa, on Thurday, began his trekking to protest the failure of the Buhari government to improve the standard of living of Nigerians.

The 28-year-old man while showing his disgust for Buhari and APC was displaying a small coffin with the inscription of the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), while speaking to journalists at Otedola Bridge, Lagos.

“I’m trekking now because they have failed Nigeria and Nigerians and I want Nigerians to know that even I, who believed so much in their government and put my health at risk by embarking on the trek is rejecting their government and that is why I’m carrying a coffin of the APC to deposit it at any mortuary within Abuja because the APC is dead already.”

Isa, who hails from Borno state pointed that the APC government has failed to keep to its campaign promises. “They promised us heaven and earth but gave us hell,” Isa lamented.

“They promised that fuel will be N45 Naira per litre but it’s now N145 Naira; they promised to create three million jobs in one year but they have not been able to create even 500,000 jobs in three years,” he added.

Even though, Isa said he was displeased with the APC government, he, however, stated that he won’t vote for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections.

“I am very angry at everyone in the APC and I will not vote for anybody from APC or PDP because they are all the same” Isa said.

APC and Buhari supporters are responsible for the killings – PDP

Wednesday, 22 August 2018

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday accused President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) as being responsible for the killings across the country.

“It is now abundantly clear to Nigerians that those fomenting crisis, including the bloody clashes and killings in Benue, Taraba, Zamfara, Nassarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Edo, Borno, Yobe, Enugu, Kogi, Adamawa & other states in Nigeria are sponsored by @APCNigeria, @MBuhari supporters,” PDP alluded in a tweet. The party gave Buhari an ultimatum of 24 hours to arrest the leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) or be held responsible for their actions.

This is coming against the backdrop of comments made by the coordinator of the association in Benue State, Garus Gololo’s comment in an interview with Punch when he warned Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to resign from office or be forced out by the group.

“We are now tired of Saraki’s style of leadership at the National Assembly. Therefore, we are now warning him to honourably resign his position as president of the Senate or we will force him out”, Gololo opined However, PDP said Gololo’s comments shows that Gololo is speaking for the APC , Buhari and its supporters with the aim of trying to force out the Saraki from office.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) labeled the threats as “ominous and revealing”. The party also pointed that MACBAN has “always represented the military wing of the APC and the Buhari Presidency.”

“It is incontrovertible that they have now become the fourth arm of government, outside the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislature”. In the time, the national body MACBAN has distanced itself from the careless comments made by Gololo and said it would punish Gololo for making such statement.

Trump alleges censorship of social media against conservatives

The United States President, Donald Trump on Saturday pointed accusing finger at social media platforms for alleged discrimination against users who have right-wing views.

He called mainstream news organizations like CNN and MSNBC “sick.” “Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices,” Trump said in a sequence of posts on Twitter.

“Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others.”

Trump called the censorship “a very dangerous thing and absolutely impossible to police,” adding that “if you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN and MSNBC, and yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed.”

“Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!” This came on backdrop of Jones, the owner of a site called InfoWars who accused victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting of being “actors” in a plot to discredit the gun lobby.

Facebook says Jones violated the hate speech rules. Facebook alluded that the page was shut down due to “glorifying violence, which violates our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies.”

However, Twitter, the main platform Trump uses with over 53.8 million followers allowed Jones to continue to use the platform but he won’t be allowed to tweet on for an indefinite period of time.

Confusion In APC Over Saraki’s Impeachment

the plan of the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to impeach Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki may have run into a hitch due to doubt and mistrust among leadership of the party and the APC lawmakers.

Apart from lack of  a succession plan abosuccessionreplace Saraki if the impeachment ever succeeds, the inability of the party national leadership to come up with a reward system for the APC lawmakers has elicited misgivings among the lawmakers.

The APC party chairman, Adams Oshiomole, has sought the removal of Saraki after he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, with several marathon meetings with the Senate APC caucus in the last three weeks, nothing concrete has been achieved.

Although, many of the Senators are desirous of obeying the plan of APC Chairman, there has been no common agreement on how to get the mandatory Two Thirds Majority of Members of the Senate as contained in the Constitution if the plan to impeach of the Senate President will succeed.

The camps have since appeared in the Senate APC caucus with one camp opposing the other on how to go about the impeachment plot, as well as on who succeeds Saraki. In the days ahead, the APC Senators and the national leadership will have to prove their seriousness in impeaching the present leadership of the Senate legally.

Many APC Senators fear they are just being used to impeach Saraki without giving them an assurance of the party’s ticket to return to the Senate.

NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT PAID HUGE RANSOME TO FREE DAPCHI GIRLS – UNITED NATIONS REPORT

Thursday, 16 August 2018

Despite the many denials of the Nigerian government that ransom was not paid for the release of the Dapchi girls, the United Nations has confirmed that a splinter Boko Haram group that kidnapped the Dapchi girls in February was paid a “large ransom”.

The schoolgirls were kidnapped from their school on February 18. One of the girls, Leah Sharibu, has not been released for refusing to convert to Islam. On the March 21st, the Nigerian government announced that the girls and a boy were released after negotiations through a back channel.

But in a report published on Tuesday by the United Nations said the government told lies about the release of Dapchi girls. Lai Mohammed said the terrorist group only demanded a temporary cessation of hostilities in order to free the girls.

The government spokesperson said government refused to take the military option so as not to jeopardize the lives of the girls.

He said: “confrontation would not be the way out as it could endanger the lives of the girls, hence a non-violent approach was the preferred option.” “Within the period when the girls were being brought back, an operational pause was observed in certain areas to ensure free passage and also that lives were not lost,” he added.

The United Nations has insisted the government paid a ransom. The UN stated that kidnapping for ransom is very prevalence which continues to encourage the activities of terror groups such as Boko Haram and its splinter faction Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the group which kidnapped the Dapchi schoolgirls.

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly to seek an extension of his 10-day medical vacation in London.

In a letter signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina and made available to newsmen today by the Personal Assistant to the president on Media Engagement, Bashir Ahmad, explain that the extension was necessary because the president still has to undergo some tests and receive the results for a series of tests that had been recommended by his doctors.

The letter reads: “The President had planned to return to Abuja this evening (Sunday), but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. “The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives.

Mr President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes.” This is not the first time Mr Buhari has sought an extension of his medical vacation in London.

It had twice extended his stay previously. The President is seeking a second term in office. His opponents have declared that he is not fit to govern the nation effectively on the account of health challenges but Mr Buhari’s handlers have punctured such saying the President is “just undergoing routine medical checkup”.

Many have asked why Mr. Buhari’s ailments cannot be treated in Nigeria after making huge budgets for the clinic inside Aso Rock villa. Many medical experts have argued that treating the President abroad does not augur well for the image of the country.

THE INCREASING CASES OF RAPE IN OUR SOCIETY

Wednesday, 9 August 2017

Pick up any of the major national dailies and you will never fail to see one or two reported cases of rape. It has become a fact that in recent times the cases of rape are just escalating. But curiously nobody seems to be raising an eyebrow over it. Often the security agents (who by the way are actually among the chief perpetrators) treat it with utter levity; as a nuisance or private matter. The claim is often that there is no evidence; it is the victim’s word against the perpetrator’s. But we know that the police see only what it is looking for, what it chooses to see. Often the victim and her loved ones are left to bear the shame, cost of treatment and justice (if any) alone.

Even the cases that make it to the court are often handled with kid gloves by the judiciary who grant bail to the perpetrators at laughable conditions (if any) and hand the convicted ones ridiculously light sentences. This has emboldened those with such evil minds that they can always get away with the crime, hence the escalating instances of rape in our society.

Let us bear in mind however that the woman is God’s greatest gift to man. She should therefore be treasured cared for and protected, not violated and humiliated at will. Any offence against her especially rape which is the greatest crime against a woman’s dignity ought to be taken seriously and the perpetrator (s) brought to book at all cost. This is actually the practice in the western society which understands and upholds women’s dignity and rights; hence cases of rape are given almost equal attention as cases of murder.

But the fundamental question that still begs an answer is what is the root cause of this increasing proclivity to violate women? The answer may be found in the words of Pope John Paul || who said, ‘When men forget about God they become degraded, and this is first noticed in the sexual (female) body. It is now becoming agreed that any commercial material that does not contain a sexy lady or talk about sex cannot draw attention or sell. Name them- adverts (no matter the goods), movies, songs, magazines poster, etc. The result is that the society has become sexually charged as people’s minds are constantly bombarded with sexual images and their thought kept perpetually on sex. The ladies are now given the false impression by the fashion world that they have to dress seductively to look beautiful. Sex and sexual escapades are discussed openly and freely and even encouraged Even pornography has become so accessible and on the increase.

When a man has no formal foundation or compass, who has been impressed with all these things and is perpetually fantasizing about sex meets a lady in a secluded place, what will happen? He will most likely have little or no hesitation in taking advantage of her by sexually defiling her. The most painful aspect of these perpetrators often don’t even differentiate between minors and adults and even relations. (Many of the recent cases of rape we read in the news involved minors). And mind you, rape is easily the most under- reported crime in our society because of the stigma that goes with it. So with these increasingly reportedly cases you can imagine the magnitude of the unreported hidden ones.

We can’t continue to leave like this in a civilized world. All hands must be on deck to halt this devilish crime that strikes at the very heart of human dignity. The law/policy makers, security forces and judiciary must start giving priority attention and grave seriousness to this issue of rape. It shows moral numbness (and vey culpable) to wait until people (women) take to the streets in protest (as they have done in some areas) before the government begins to act.

Then also, it’s high time we went back and rebuilt the shattered moral fabric of our society especially as regards sex. We need to go back to God who created sex. We need to teach and remind ourselves constantly …that sex is sacred, not a sport or thing of fun. We need to re-orientate our children on the sense of sin and human dignity. This has to begin from the families to the schools and the society in general. The parents, teachers and indeed every adult should be a role model to the kids around him. Always know that your life style and your speech affect other person because they are being observed and copied by those around you.

Finally we need to tone down the sexual charge of the society so as to take people’s mind (especially youths) off sex or at least diminish the great interest in it. The ladies must begin to dress decently to avoid sending the wrong signal of availability to men. Indeed real beauty is tested in decency. You can be decent and yet gorgeous and beautiful and even sexy without being seductive. The print media and entertainment industry must shed the idea that without enough sexual content a video, song, newspaper or magazine will not sell much. That can only be true of a video, music or print that lacks creativity and quality. It is an evident fact that once a video is educative and engaging, it sells easily.

They must help us by reducing the number and explicitness of the sexual contents (which they euphemistically call adult content as if that deters the young from watching them) of their products. The parents, teachers, authors, and religious leaders must not tire in playing their part of inculcating the virtues of sexual discipline and decency on those in their charges, both by words and deeds. When all these are done and sustained, and counting on God’s grace, all will be well again with our society.

[Arch Bishop Ikeako]: Let Biafra Go

Tuesday, 27 June 2017

During the Mass Celebration at Holy Child Convent (H.C.C) at Amichi, Anglican Bishop of Amichi said on the issue regarding to the current situation of the country (Nigeria). In his speech, he said that we should continue to give the Almighty and Gracious God thanks for his mercy, blessings and benevolence to us as a nation (Nigeria), despite the terrible and excruciating Economic Recession, God is still sustaining the citizens of this country (Nigeria).

While we are praying for our dear President (MOHAMADU BUHARI) for quick recovery from ill health, I want to remind the President that life has no duplicate, there’s no doubting the fact that enormity of governance will surely be aggravating to the state of fragile health condition.  “Arch BishopIkeako said”
Is it not better for the president to travel the root of honor and safety by resigning as our president in order to save both the SELF and the NATION at large? To him, Mr. President –you have had your fair share of leadership in this country (Nigeria) since 1983.
At 73yrs, the president can function all efficiently as an elder state man. After all “EMMANUEL MARKET” who was only 6yrs old when you were a military head of state in 1983 is now the president of France. Are we not confused in our own country? Whereby the youngest president in African is 90yrs old .the question is –Where are we heading to with this confusion?

Also Read: 12-yr-Old Boy Killed His Landlady

On the security aspects in our nation (Nigeria) let me also join others on recommending the president on the release of the other batch of the abducted chibouk girls, the notable progress feels frustrating at times in the war against the Islamic Insurgence known as the Boko Haram, should also be appreciated and recommended but aside that, the greatest security question beckoning for answers in this country “Nigeria” includes:

Who is the perpetrator of mindless killing of the Christians in the Northern Kaduna? How many of them have been arrested, prosecuted and sentenced accordingly?
Did the security agencies play their expected and established constitutional roles in handling the situation? Why is it always impossible for the federal government of Nigeria to cut their activities off and train to the fortuitous Almighty in quote “Fulani headsmen”? Who are the suppliers of the Ak47 guns and the pump action revolvers they are using and carrying as well?

When arm and ammunitions carrying was legalized for this baptized Boko Haram group? And we are here talking about one Nigeria. While young people will match peacefully along the street as IPOP members and you release armies to shoot them, but ammunition carrier are not harassed by anyone and we are one Nigeria. The earlier we tell ourselves the truth, the better for all of us “we are not one Nigeria” let us go because there nothing that makes an Igbo man a part of this country “the Bishop said”

Can you imagine, to go to the north, you’ll travel 3-4 hrs and you can’t see one recruit policeman, but to travel to east, from one junction to another you will see up to 5 policeman and armies at checkpoint extorting money from people especially the Igbo people, let us go (the Bishop was still repeating). Thus, you can only stop Biafra but can’t close the chapter "Bishop Ikeako said”.
